Innovative architectural design. Responsive service that fulfills the vision and goals of each client in ways that exceed expectations. This is what we are known for at POD Group Architecture. Creating buildings and environments of distinction and spiritual pleasure that stand the test of time is our passion. We focus our experience on golf course communities, club houses, resort complexes, and distinctive  luxury estate homes. Our goal is the same – to create places in which life's most important moments are experienced and lifelong memories are formed.

Since our  beginning in Hawaii, with such a diverse climate and cultural environment, we have built a reputation as an innovative and creative architectural firm by listening, learning and exploring new ideas with each client. On every project we design we inject the desires and individuality of the client merged with the given parameters of the site and environment

Continuing to design with the utilization of sustainable materials is a strong focus of our team. And because every project we design impacts its surroundings in significant ways, we work with great sensitivity toward preserving the environment and creating a sustainable future.

Our services are focused toward meeting the specific needs of our clients on a particular project. Our core competencies are in the disciplines and services listed below. Testimonials

“Peter was the architect for the prior owner . After meeting with three recommended architects, we chose him to design an extensive remodel.
Peter has excellent space and design instincts. The home makes excellent use of the hillside lot peculiarities and turns challenging situations into property strengths and is nestled into the hill with uninterrupted ocean views form nearly every room. The home facilitates year-round indoor and outdoor entertaining on two levels in multiple courtyards and patios. We could not be happier with the finished product and urge anyone desiring the ultimate "personal" residence to discuss their project with him.”

PROCESS

Good architecture takes a style and manipulates it into an acceptable solution for a clients approval.  Great architecture fundamentally begins with the assemblage of all the required parameters of the client, site, placement, dynamic environment, and integration of style within these guidelines. This collaborative process in which the clients' knowledge of their own needs is as important as the expertise of the architect. The design process consists of four phases: schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. Each phase of the design process is integral to the others and to the success of the building. Beautiful architecture is created when each and every component of the building, site and environmental influence is carefully designed and well executed.

In addition to the four design phases, we also include a preliminary research phase referred to as programming. During the programming phase, we become intimately familiar with the needs of the client, the surrounding community, and the characteristics of the site.

SITE

Creating a sense of place necessitates a careful reading of the geological, topographical, environmental, and cultural site conditions. By allowing these factors to inspire the design, a home or community building is created which engages the surrounding environment.

MATERIALS

We are very sensitive to the voice of change and the need to use sustainable materials in the execution of our buildings and the utilization of all landscaping design. Architecture that is built to last minimizes the consumption of resources. The use of indigenous materials creates a connection between the architecture and the site. Natural materials such as stone, concrete, and wood will improve with age.

The Desert Mountain Estate-Jay and Mary Combs-Owners

"We were looking for a home with a little more room than our first home-and a home that capitalized on the beautiful desert sunsets," says Mary. "We have had many visitors from the Bay Area and wanted a home that could accommodate our guests in a fun and relaxing atmosphere." Peter Owens has accomplished this with his many custom elements for this house alone. His curved popular tongue-and-grove ceilings in the great room, master suite, guest house and master bath are beautifully done. "It reminds me of a beautiful luxury yacht," says Mary. "Peter's vision and home design is amazing and for us is perfect for this site here in Desert Mountain."
